Carlson Formetec is an advanced metal forming and manufacturing business located in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, Tacoma Washington. We operate a 25,000 square foot facility specializing in the hot forming, blanking, machining and chemical cleaning (Etching) of titanium sheet metal. We hold AS9100 “B”, ISO 9001:2000 and NADCAP AS7108 (Chemical Processing) approvals.

Established in 1977, Carlson Formetec’s organization has over 28 years of experience in forming and manufacturing titanium aerospace details. We have a state of the art proprietary forming process that allows us to form complex titanium parts in a fraction of the time needed by most hot forming operations.  

Carlson Formetec relies on personalized customer service, along with our extensive experience working with titanium to aid our customers in all aspects of their titanium needs. Our size gives us a unique advantage in offering competitive pricing strategies and contract management to organizations of all sizes, from very small companies with research and development projects to major airframe and engine manufacturers with multi year contract needs.

Raela Guernsey
President & Co-Owner
Raela has been employed by Carlson Formetec for over 20 years. Raela began her career at Carlson in the production area and the clean line and progressively moved through various administrative and management roles before becoming President in 1984. As the President of the organization Raela is involved in all aspects of the facility from quoting to production scheduling to human resource issues on a daily basis. 

Dave Hide
Operations Manager & Co-Owner
Dave has also been employed at Carlson Formetec for over 20 years. Dave has extensive experience in tool design and engineering as well as in operations and production management. Today, as the Operations Manager, Dave is responsible for heading up quote activity, tool engineering and developing manufacturing plannings. Dave also manages long range material forecasting and works closely with John Wilson, the Manufacturing Manager on scheduling. 

Buck Cook
Business Development Manager & Co-Owner
Buck brings an extensive background in sales and marketing and small business development to Carlson Formetec’s team. As the Business Development Manager, in charge of Sales and Marketing, Buck is responsible for business growth and new customer development. As a liaison between our customers and Carlson Formetec Buck works closely with Operations and Manufacturing to assure that customers needs are met and our service is second to none. 

Eric Carlson
QA Manager
Eric is the Quality System Manager and is a part of the business development team at Carlson Formetec. Eric has worked in the aerospace sector for over 20 years and in aerospace quality systems for the past 12 years. Eric currently manages the quality systems and customer approvals at Carlson Formetec and is working in sales and marketing to develop a strategy focusing on diversification and growth.

John Wilson
Manufacturing Manager
John joined the Carlson Formetec team as the Manufacturing Manager in January of 2003 and he is directly responsible for the production crew and manufacturing schedule. John brings over 25 years of manufacturing and tool and die experience to our team. One of John’s strongest attributes is a constant “lean” mentality and the process improvements he has implemented have been instrumental in Carlson Formetec’s growth.

Melony Appel
Contract Administration
Melony has been with the Carlson Formetec since 1998 and is currently responsible for our entire contract administration process. Melony tracks contracts, purchases materials and monitors customer schedules to assist us in maintaining 100% on time delivery. Melony brings enthusiasm and unmatched customer service to our team and Customers are constantly remarking about how much they enjoy her positive attitude and attention to detail.
